Gearline
Bicycle gear calculator: gear inches, speed at cadence and bike comparisons.
Gearline shows what your bicycle's gears really do. Enter the chainrings, the cassette and the wheel, and see every combination as gear inches, distance per crank turn, or speed at the cadence you like to ride.
YOUR BIKE IN ONE VIEW
- The easiest and hardest gear, with the speed each gives at your cadence.
- The total range in percent, so a 1x and a 2x drivetrain can be compared fairly.
- A gear map: every combination as a dot on one scale, a row per chainring, so you see where gears overlap and where the gaps are.
- The jump between neighboring cogs, to judge how smooth the shifting will feel.
- Cross-chained combinations, big ring with the largest cogs and small ring with the smallest, are greyed out.
THE FULL TABLE Every chainring against every cog, shown as speed, gear inches, development in meters or feet, or plain ratio.
COMPARE Keep up to eight bikes and lay a second one over the gear map, for example your road bike against a new gravel setup, or a current cassette against a wider one.
SET UP ANY BIKE
- Chainring presets from single to triple, or type your own teeth counts.
- Cassette presets from 8 to 12 speeds, or your own list of cogs.
- Wheel and tire sizes from 16 inch folding wheels to 29 inch mountain bike tires.
- Cadence from 60 to 110 rpm, and km/h or mph.
Gearline is a calculator that runs entirely on your phone, with no account and no internet connection.
